William Leonard Gosling (The “Goose”) 92, passed away peacefully at Fenelon Court Long Term Care Home on January 8, 2023.
Bill grew up and raised his family in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood. After graduating from Norway Public School, he enrolled in an apprenticeship program for Lithography. Over a 40-year period he became a very talented and respected pressman in Toronto’s printing industry.
In 1953, he married Patricia (Pat), the love of his life. Their love story spanned 53 years and included raising their three children, travelling, and spending time with family and friends at the cottage. In 1998, when Pat needed a transplant, it was Bill who was the perfect match and able to donate his kidney. This was truly a gift of love.
Bill was very athletic and enjoyed participating in many sports including hockey, bowling, squash, downhill skiing, water skiing, curling and golf. He was also a volunteer coach in the Grandravine Special Hockey program. Bill’s athletic talents translated to dancing. He loved to be the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave.
Upon retirement, Bill and Pat spent many happy years enjoying cottage life. Bill was an active member of the Sturgeon Point Golf Club and the Fenelon Falls Curling Club.
Bill was a kind and caring man who would do anything for his family and friends. He loved being around people and will be truly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his cherished wife Pat. He is survived by his loving children, Robert, Lois (Carlos), David and his adoring grandchildren Daniel and Paul.
Our sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to the amazing staff at Fenelon Court for their wonderful care and attention.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the Spring.
Donations to the Alzheimer Society or Community Living Toronto are greatly appreciated.
