Allan, Wendy (nee Askew)

Our dear Wendy was taken from us suddenly and tragically on Sunday August 19th at her home near Lindsay. One thoughtless and violent act from the hand of another, concluding the life of someone dedicated to the salvation of others, man or beast (but usually beast). Wendy’s mission to offer comfort to any living creature would have made St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of all animals, blush.

 Wendy will be forever remembered by her three beautiful children, Mackenzie, Matthew and Sarah.  For her Dad Grant (retired O.P.P) and Mom Angela both have lost their soulmate. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Michael (Linda) and their family, Jeffrey, and (predeceased) John  

 Wendy was a trusted friend to her cousin Mary Sweet and a loving niece to her Aunt Barbara Sweet.

The Askew family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Days Inn Lindsay and the SPCA for their help, generosity and understanding during this very difficult time. Thank you to neighbour Ray Harrison for his hard work and to our friends and neighbours who reached out. Finally, heartfelt thanks  to the officers of the Kawartha Lakes OPP and the Victim Services for their clarity and compassion.    

A celebration of Wendy’s 51 years will take place Saturday October 13th at 1:00 to 3:00PM  Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Road, Lindsay, ON K9V 0A2
