Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Nana, and Aunt Vi passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years after a short battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Toronto, she moved to Lindsay after her marriage in 1959 at the incredibly young age of 17 years. She was the oldest of four children.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Bertha; her husband of 62 years, Richard; and her sister, Sharon. She is survived by her children, Rick and Tammy; her two grandchildren, Tamara and RJ; her great grandchildren, Emaleigh, Chloe, Kalen, Rylan and Dion; her sister Gwen; her brother Leslie; and her family-by-choice and forever friend, Reg. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Violet was a dynamic, wonderful woman who enjoyed a variety of endeavors during her lifetime. She had several jobs, ranging from working in a factory to a diet center. She supported her husband’s wide ranging business ventures, and would eventually start her own production company, promoting, recording and managing many talented musicians. She was also an advocate for women’s rights, an active member of her church and a strong supporter of local charities. She had many hobbies including gardening, baking, crocheting and collecting porcelain dolls. She had a rare talent for nurturing orchids.
A simple graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday September 30th at 1PM.
She asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to A Place Called Home in Lindsay.
