Verna Velma Patterson nee McGinnis
Verna passed away on Feb 13,2022 . At Ross Memorial hospital in Lindsay in her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband  Claude Melville Patterson of Bobcaygeon. Verna raised her five children Ronald Patterson, Darlene Patterson, Paul Patterson and the twins Michael Patterson and Marilyn Waitkus in their family home in Oshawa. Grandmother to Serina Patterson-Bishop, Liana Patterson, Charla Patterson, Jessica Patterson and grandson Bryce Patterson. Special Mom to Gary and Heather Ritcher of Oshawa, Tammi Tew and Susan Hunter of Lindsay. Mother in law to Tracy Patterson and Joseph Waitkus. Predeceased by her parents Elva and William McGinnis of Lindsay. Verna was the fourth sister of eight siblings, Victoria Booth, Audrey Shaw, Ila Holmes, Lorna Bowler, Lloyd McGinnis and Judy Ferrey. Predeceased by her sisters Doris Villeneau and Evelyn Kane. Sister in law to Jerry Kane, Mike Ferrey and Caroline Mason-McGinnis. Linda Caskey, Sheila Tully, Rozanne Tully, Glenda Patterson. Verna loved her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. They all touch her life in special ways. Verna dedicated herself to local community, she volunteer with the Oshawa parks association. By raising funds for the youth to be able to play baseball and hockey. Verna was one of the founding volunteers of the Fiesta Week celebration that continue in Oshawa. She was a dedicated member of the Moose Lodge of Lindsay. Verna was a life time fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, loved to dance, country music was her joy to listen. There will be a private family visitation and funeral at Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. Followed by a reception in the Lakeland Reception Centre.
