After a long and happy life, our mom passed away peacefully and with dignity at her home with a heartfelt goodbye to her children Donna, Dale and Doug & her friend Darlene at her side. We are grateful for the wonderful care of Dr. Brent MacMillan. Marlene and her late husband Ron were a hard-working, salt of the earth, couple who established Hyspruce Holsteins (Woodville) in 1968 and later concurrently operated the Brock Stop (Sunderland) for 17 years.
Mom made life long friendships with many of the “Brock Stop Girls” as they continued to keep in touch. She will be greatly missed by her children Donna (Doug Montgomery), Dale (Lynda Butterworth), Doug and her friend Darlene Surjanac.
Marlene was a proud grandmother to Alexis (Zac), Patrick (Laura), Riley (Hayley) and Carter; and great grandmother to Henry, Mable and Sawyer. She will be deeply missed by longtime friends and family. Mom would have been thrilled with the safe arrival of her great granddaughter Rosie born June 19th.
The family expresses its profound gratitude to the amazing care and compassion provided by Dr. Neera Jayabalan, Dr. Natalie Leahy, Aaron Grant and the entire team at PRHC Cancer Care. We also are appreciative of the care of Dr. Marina Pretorius.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Road, Lindsay, on Saturday, September 6 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. Words of Remembrance will be shared at 2:00 P.M. Anyone interested in sharing their memories is invited to participate.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the PRHC (Peterborough Regional Health Centre) Foundation - Cancer Care.
A private family interment will be held at East Oakwood Cemetery following the Celebration of Life.
