Vera Selena Staples

Vera Selena Staples (Magill) entered peacefully into rest on October 18th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness at Ross Memorial Hospital. Vera was the proud wife for 63 years to the late Wilson Staples who she met at a local dance in Janetville. 

Together, they owned and operated Wilson Tire and Battery for 58 years, a legacy grandsons Andrew Staples and Marcus Churcher continued to honour. 

Vera was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Mamie Magill, born and raised in Janetville, Ontario.  Vera is survived by her children Kenneth (Jane), Linda, Patsy (Garry Bacon).

Proud grandma of Andrew Staples, Katherine (Doug) Peel, Lauren Smith, Marcus (Lindsay) Churcher and Chantel (Connor) Power, Gregory, Scott, and Joshua Bacon.  Loving great-grandma to Emily and Carson Peel, Lily Smith, Julia and Jocelyn Churcher and Ciara and Fionn Power.  Vera will be missed by her cherished friend Eleanor Danilko. 

Vera is predeceased by her brothers Gilbert Magill (Shirley Harris), Edward Magill, brother in law Ray Staples (Marion Wright) and great-grandson Liam Smith.  Survived by brother in law Glen (Margaret) Staples and the many in our extended family.

Our family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for Mom. A special thanks to Dr. MacMillan and the nurses on the Complex Care floor.

We appreciate the support of the community, however at Mom’s request, a small family gathering will be held. If desired, donations to the Kawartha Lakes Food Source or your local food bank would be appreciated.  The family would also like to say thank you to Don Finlayson and the staff at Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre for their support at this difficult time.
