Sonia Teresa Dunford (nee Overwijk)

Passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with cancer at Ross Memorial Hospital on January 25, 2026 with family by her side. Predeceased by her father Klass Overwijk, survived by mother Jacoba Overwijk. Now reunited with her beloved husband Robert Dunford. The best mother to Chrystal Simpson (Overwijk) (Ryan), Justin Dunford, Christopher Dunford and Tammy Frances (Paul). Proud grandmother of Alannah, Zac, Greyson, Lexie and Jack. Sister to Margaret deVries (Rein-predeceased), Jackie James (Doug) & Alex Overwijk (Dianna). Predeceased by sister in law Lisa Overwijk. Daughter in law of Earl and Dorothy Dunford (predeceased). Sister in law of Sherry Vaughan (Steve), predeceased by brothers in law Paul Dunford (Sue-predeceased) & Steven Dunford. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sonia had the kindest of hearts and was always willing to greet anyone with open arms. Her loving spirt will be missed by many.

In keeping with Sonia’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life held at Lakeland Funeral Centre on February 1, 2026 between the hours of 1PM-3PM.
