ANDERSON, Philip Wayne
It is with the heaviest of heart, that I had to bid farewell to my soulmate and best friend, Phil. Phil was born February 28, 1949 and left this world peacefully on Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at the age of 71 at the Peterborough Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit after a battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife Betty, sons Matthew and Philip, grandson Jayden, devoted sister Beth Caulfield and her husband Bill. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nephew Larry (Nadean) and niece Joanne Gourgouvelis (John) and their sons DJ and William. Phil was a dog lover from his early teens and this was his hobby for his lifetime. If it wasn’t breeding Labrador Retrievers, it was training and trialing in Obedience and Hunt Tests. He has many friends in the dog world out there and I’m sure a lot of them will miss him on the Hunt Test circuit of late. Over the years he taught dog obedience classes to a number of people in the area (Cedartyme Pet Foods / Family Dog Obedience). His passion until recently was reading extensively and watching videos about training dogs to retrieve. In accordance with Covid measures we are holding a private family funeral on Saturday, January 30th ,2021 with interment at Riverside Cemetery. We will be having a Celebration of Life for Phil at a later date after restrictions have been cleared. In lieu of flowers we would prefer a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Guide Dogs. We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Eric Ready and the health team in the Palliative Care Unit at PRHC.
