It is with heavy hearts that the family of Paul Edward Plewes announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by those he loved, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre following a stay at Ross Memorial Hospital. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at both facilities for the exceptional respect and dignity with which they cared for Paul throughout his time with them.
Paul was a humble, kind, and gentle soul — a man whose quiet warmth and wonderful sense of humor left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His curiosity about the world was boundless. He delighted in understanding how things worked, how things grew, and what lay beyond the horizon. That curiosity led him to cultivate a beautiful vegetable and flower garden that stood as a testament to his patience and care, and it carried him on adventures to experience corners of the world far from home.
A man of simple and genuine pleasures, Paul loved animals, savoured good food, enjoyed a round of golf, a weekly game of poker, and enjoyed working on cars in his younger years. He escaped the city to enjoy a more peaceful life where he operated a small store and resort on the shores of Sturgeon Lake.
Paul was the devoted husband of 50 years to the love of his life, Eleanor (Graham) Plewes, and the proud father of David (Christina) Plewes and Bradley Plewes. He was a cherished Papa to his granddaughter Lauren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Ann (Ralph), Joe (Bev), Ruth (Ken), and Chris (Sandy); his cousin John (Mary); and his sisters-in-law Gayle Graham, and Gail Pattison; and his many nieces, nephews, and a circle of dear friends and poker rivals. Paul is predeceased by his siblings Lena (Rene), Margaret (David), David (Betty), Bill (Marsha), Robert, Verna and his brother-in-law Earl Graham.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes or Ross Memorial Hospital.
Please join us in a celebration of life at Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Rd., Lindsay, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 between the hours of 1PM-3PM. Tributes will be shared at 2PM.
