Patrick Burns Obituary

It is with great sorrow and blessings that we announce the passing of Patrick James Burns, born July 25th, 1936. After a long battle with kidney and heart disease he passed peacefully and pain free on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 with his wife, two daughters and family friends by his side. Husband of 57 years to Pauline Rose (Snelling) Burns, Father of oldest daughter Julie (Burns) and David Millington and youngest, Jackie Burns. Patrick was a proud Grandpa to Darby Elaine and Gareth Allen Millington and special “Pica” to Spencer Elizabeth

Patrick was born to Leo and Ursula Burns (predeceased), along with his siblings; Sheila, Al and Blanche Burns, Ross Burns, Bill Burns, Rose and Ernie Scott, Shelia, Mary, Pete and Alma Burns – all predeceased. Larry and Nancy Burns, Pauline and Bev Stanley, Judy and Gord (predeceased) Jewel, sister in law Sandra Burns (Hancock) and youngest sister, Carol Burns and Sami.

Dear friend to so many people who are “Framily” – just a few Jane Shulist-Green and Michael, Sara Brockman, Gail and Reg Simo, Liz Krupa and Michele Harrison and the Skipworth girls and Sheridan girls.

Pat worked for the Board of Works for over 40 years and “plowed” many a people’s driveways. He loved hockey and refereed for over 32 years and was often called “Blue Line Patty” and could clear a bench into the penalty box very quickly with mouthy players. He also had the pleasure of umpiring baseball for over 20 years. The pool in the back yard was his oasis of relaxation…a quick sleep after work and dive into the pool… Many fond memories with the pool and all the parties we hosted. His faith was very important to him and many a trek he made up the hill to go to church and would always say to us girls “if you party all night, you can damn well get up and go to church in the morning”. Pat loved his back-yard garden and all the tomatoes, beans and fresh lettuce he would eat from it. Dad’s love of fishing in all seasons with Wylie Lytle and travelling up to Chapleau for the “roughing it” in the bush at the hunting camp.
