From: Foster and Kaye Hanson

Doreen: We are so very sorry to hear of Norm's passing. Unfortunately we lost touch with Norm after he left the Pipes and Drums of Lindsay. We also resigned from the band after we moved to Oshawa 4 years ago. Hanging on the wall of our "office" is a watercolour painting which Norm made Kaye aware of a number of years ago and she purchased for Foster. Every time we look at the picture we think of Norm. He was such a happy, kind and thoughtful individual. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and many friends.

From: Shaun Everest

To all the Thompsons, I am so sad to hear about Uncle Norm. Uncle Norm was one of the good guys and was an important figure in my young life and the lives of everyone in the Everest family. The great memories are too many to mention but I'd like to mention a few. We had a very small immediate family so most of Art & Iris's friends became Aunts and Uncles to us and Uncle Norm and Auntie Doreen were definitely part of our extended family. I knew I would be safe and welcome dropping in on them anytime. I don't know how many times Uncle Norm had to circle the boat around for "another try" to see if I would ever get up on those water skis on Beech Lake. I also remember countless hours spent at Avonlea watching Uncle Norm and my Dad curling and this led me to take up the game myself. The cottage stories are almost endless and have formed such a large part of my childhood memories. The last thing I'd like to say as I think about those days and is a testament to Uncle Norm and the whole Thompson family is that I distinctly remember, way back then, thinking to myself that when I grew up I wanted to have the same kind of welcoming home and family that the Thompson's had at Beech Lake. It always seemed fun, there always seemed to be people dropping in, and it was very comfortable. So thanks Uncle Norm for the positive effect you had on my life. My thoughts go out to all who had Norm in their lives. Shaun Everest - Oliver, BC

Dear Auntie Doreen and Family,We were so sorry to hear of the sad news about Uncle Norm. We have such fond memories of our great family times together, both at Beech Lake and in Scarborough and Don Mills. He never failed to give a big smile when I shouted out his name at a parade as he marched by..... I will always treasure our family times and I know my Mom and Dad always felt a strong friendship with you both. We will be thinking of you all and send our love at this difficult time.Maureen Greg Thomas and Dana xxoo

We were saddened to hear of Uncle Norm's passing. Having worked with Uncle Norm at Henderson and Laing for a couple of years as a teenager I got to know him quite well. I learned a lot from him and he always treated me very well. Their house in Scarborough was always open anytime I wanted to pop in for a visit and those are things I'll always remember. Our condolences to Aunt Doreen, Wendy, Gary and their families.
