KILLENS, Melvin Roy
June 13, 1936 – February 22, 2021
Today we said goodbye to our gentle soul Melvin Killens. Also know as Mel, Dad, Grampa Mel, and beloved husband. Melvin has left this earth to be pain free and at peace after a long battle with dementia and many medical issues. Today we celebrate and have joy in our hearts as we reflect on all our great memories, as Melvin passed peacefully at his residence of Frost Manor in Lindsay on February 22, 2021. Melvin has left behind his beloved wife Johanna Killens, daughter Lisa Killens, stepchildren Shakeel Awan (Adrianne), Jameel Awan (Anne), Yasmin Awan (Kurt), step grandchildren Joshua Awan (Ashley), Rianna Mitchell (Kim), Brandon Awan, Shakeel Roa, Amira Roa and two great grandchildren Blake Mitchell and Kayleigh Murphy-Awan. Melvin was predeceased by his first wife Adrianna Killens (Dekock), and his son Roy Killens. Melvin will be missed by his may nieces, nephews and cousins. Melvin has touched so many lives in incredibly special ways. We will be holding a celebration of life in the springtime, details to follow later. In the meantime, please take a moment to reflect on the life of this amazing man. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff and support staff at Frost Manor in Lindsay, Ontario for their amazing care of Melvin while he has been there for the last three years. If we could ask that any donations please be made to the National Service Dogs: a non-profit organization that trains certified autism service dogs, certified PTSD service dogs, CAI dogs and companion dogs.
