Kelly Smith (nee McMillen) Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Kelly (McMillen) Smith.  She passed away at her residence on January 29th.  Kelly was the daughter of parents Winnie and the late Kenneth McMillen.  She is survived by her brother Kenny (fiancé Andrea Carr) and her many, many friends. She is also survived by her children; Alyssa (AJ), Courtney (Kyle), Cameron, as well as a grandson; Rory. She always said, ‘she missed what could have been’.

Kelly grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. She was born weighing only 4 lbs. 4 oz!  She liked to share that her granny put mashed potatoes in her bottle to fatten her up!! She was a fighter!

In her twenties, Kelly worked for a criminal lawyer; it was a time of pride for her. She travelled a great deal and those memories stayed with her for all of life.

She married young and had three children whom she adored.  As a stay at home mother, she threw herself into chauffeuring the children, hours at the ski hill, crafts, homework, and projects.  She also volunteered for many groups including Lindsay’s Homecoming committee.

A life altering illness changed her life forever.

Kelly returned to her volunteer work and up until recently volunteered at the Academy Theater in Lindsay, Ontario and at the Ross Memorial Hospital.

Kelly did not have an easy life, but she will be remembered for her positive attitude.  She was the sort of person who was always interested in other people’s lives and would inquire about how you and your family were doing.  Often, she was more concerned about others' well being than her own. We will miss her smile, the memories, the kindness, and her compassion.

‘Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal’

Gone too soon.
