Keith Loram-Martin Obituary

Keith Douglas Loram-Martin (69) took his last ride to the heavenly highway on May 24, 2024, with family lovingly by his side after a tragic battle with Lung Cancer.

Born December 26, 1954, the world was blessed with a rambunctious, honest, outspoken young man who always marched to the beat of his own drum. He spent his childhood in Scarborough Ontario with his siblings along with family and many friends nearby.

Family vacations growing up spent at Mink Lake (Bancroft) led to a love of Fishing, the Great Outdoors and a passion for building and woodwork. Amazing childhood memories that carried him well into adulthood.  Keith also had a passion for football (Miami Dolphins all the way), Hockey (Toronto Maple Leafs) and baseball (Toronto Blue Jays), which he played avidly himself for many years. He enthusiastically enjoyed nature and always loved learning new things. He also loved his motorcycles. He would excitedly call up his friends and family members requesting a ride, he delighted in the freedom of the open road and tinkering around in the garage caring for his beauties.

Keith was strong willed, genuine, and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humour. He also had an unrivalled work ethic; it was not for the weak. If there was a job to be done, he was always early, ready to go and would not quit until it was completed. A work ethic he passed along to his boys. He was full of life experiences. He owned a construction/roofing company where he employed an abundance of men, building lasting friendships. Keith also built many homes and cottages and prided himself on a job well done. Some of his favourite memories are at the homes he built with his sons help over the years.

He also had a love of Martial Arts, he and his son Justin, opened a Karate club in Lindsay, where they trained and disciplined many upcoming martial artists and enjoyed watching their students grow and learn.

His one true love, however, was his sweet, kind, full of personality blonde sidekick Izzy. Izzy is a golden lab who won Keith’s heart after his son Darren had an unexpected move and asked Keith if Izzy could stay with him awhile until he was settled into his new place, Keith of course said yes but forewarned Darren, if he grew attached to her, Darren would not be getting Izzy back. The rest is history, the love between Keith and Izzy could rival even the most of solid marriages, they did everything together over a ten-year span and Keith took the best care of her, Izzy misses him deeply.

Most recently his personality flourished with his newfound passion for caring for his neighbours and friends while maintaining the park he was residing in. Shortly after retiring from his lifelong career in home building and roofing, he took pleasure helping keep the park in shape, actively maintaining the water system, grass, snow removal among other tasks. Keith always enjoyed meeting all the members and making new friends along the way. Everyone who met him instantly liked his good nature, humour and how he always had a story to tell.

Most of all he loved his family, Keith was a family man through and through. His family meant everything to him. His sons, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved each one of them deeply.  He will be dearly missed; his life and personality were like no other and the void he left will be filled with all the love he shared, the precious memories made and new ones in his honour.

He is predeceased by his Father Douglas and his brother Wayne.

He is survived by his Mother Jean, former spouse Donna, siblings Karen, Graham, Scott, and Donna.  Sons Justin (Kacey), Mike and Darren (Lisa), daughter in laws Susan and Sylvia.  Grandchildren Angela (Mickey), Sydney (Mac), Samantha (Trevor) & Justin. Great Grandchildren Sophia, Bentley, Luna and great granddaughter on the way, and of course his best friend Izzy.  As well as many friends and extended family.

In true Keith fashion, there will be no formal services, and absolutely not on a workday, a more fitting Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 22nd at 1:00pm -3:00pm at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre (19 Moose Road, Lindsay ON K9V 0A2.)
