Obituary

QUANTRILL, JUNE MARGARETT (née Bowler)

June 4, 1936 - November 10, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of June Margarett Quantrill on November 10, 2022, at Ross Memorial Hospital, after a brief and sudden illness.

Beloved wife of the late Nigel (Dave) Quantrill (January 24, 2013).

June was born in Toronto on June 4, 1936, and met Nigel when she was a passenger on the TTC bus he drove. On May 3, 1958, they married and in March of 1964, they moved to Applewood Acres in Mississauga where June and Nigel raised their two children.

The Applewood community brought June much happiness, from volunteering at Applewood Public School and Trillium Hospital to spending quality time with her many wonderful friends and neighbours. Whether she lived in Applewood or in Lindsay, where she spent her remaining years, her door was always open, and guests were greeted with open arms and warm hospitality.

June was a woman with endless talents, whether it was baking pies and cookies for her loved ones, helping neighbours paint their homes, doing alterations and sewing garments for family and friends, teaching the next generation how to crochet afghan blankets, dividing her beautiful, perennial flowers to share with admirers, cooking a warm meal for those in need, or carrying extra mitts and gloves in the winter to share with those less fortunate, she always found a way to help out and show how very much she cared.

June was a devoted and loving mother and is profoundly missed and survived by her children; Kimberley (Mike) and David and was the best “Nanny” to Nicole, Andrew, and Catherine. June’s grandchildren were her reasons for being, the light of her life and greatest pride and joy and she loved them beyond measure. Her unconditional love, warm hugs, and her pockets full of Werther's will always be cherished and never forgotten.

June is predeceased by her husband, Nigel Quantrill; grandson, Thomas Holodryzuk; brothers Ted and Gary Bowler; sisters-in-law Joan Hardy (nee Quantrill) and Madeline Bowler; brothers-in-law Eric Cox and Peter Kroon; niece, Caroline Quantrill, and nephew, Bill Kroon.

June will be deeply missed by her loving sisters; Margaret Cox (late Eric Cox), Irene Kroon (late Peter Kroon), and Donna Rouse, and will be dearly missed by her family in South Africa, Peter, and Jaqueline Quantrill, and her many adoring nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A special thank you goes out to the outstanding staff at William Place Retirement Home, and the ICU and Palliative Care doctors and nurses at Ross Memorial Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care.

The family would be honoured if donations to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation were made in memory of June.

In keeping with June’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will not be held. Further information and online condolences may be viewed at www.lakelandfuneralcentre.com.

I love you more.
