Julie Szymanski Obituary

It is with heavy hearts; we announce the passing of Julie Szymanski.

Julie passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Thursday March 21, 2024 at the age of 76, after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Beloved wife of Harry Cobb for 31 years. Dear daughter of Anna Szymanski. Loving stepmom of Cheryl and Steven. Cherished grandma of Caleb and Wesley. Loved sister-in-law of Carolyn Cobb-Dalgard, Kenny and Sally Cobb, Richard and Monica Cobb and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Julie was predeceased by her father, Peter Szymanski.

Julie will be deeply missed by her nearest and dearest lifelong friends, as well as her many extended golf and curling friends, family, and neighbours from near and far.

Julie was born in Germany on January 25, 1948. Julie immigrated to Canada when she was 3 years old. Julie graduated Teacher’s College in 1967 and held a teaching position for 8 years. Julie went on to sell real estate as a member of the Toronto Real Estate Board for 27 years before retiring from the big city to the lake. Julie and Harry easily settled into lake life where they loved nothing more than continuing their journey making memories together entertaining family and friends. Julie was an avid golfer and curler. She was a member of the Lindsay Golf & Country Club, as well as the Bobcaygeon Curling Club and Fenelon Falls Curling Club.

Julie was one of a kind. Always ready with an open heart and a helping hand. She had optimism, strength and a light that was evident to those who loved and knew her. Her love for her family was immeasurable. She will be greatly missed by all her extended family and friends.

Special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health (Oshawa) Cancer Centre and Ross Memorial Hospital (Lindsay), the Kawartha North Family Health Team (Bobcaygeon) and Community Care of Kawartha Lakes – Hospice Services for their excellent care, kindness and compassion to Julie and our family.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family appreciates all of your prayers and kind gestures during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Julie’s honour to the charity of your choice.
