It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Richards, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, at the age of 81, after a short battle with cancer.
Judy leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Morgan Pickering (Travis), Devon Richards (Kris) and Walker Richards. She also leaves behind her much-loved grandson Nash, who brought endless joy to her life. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter Terri McGregor and grandson Jesse McGregor, both of whom she missed so much.
Judy will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law Carolyn Richards and son-in-law Mark McGregor, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Marc Chayer and the teams at the MAID Program and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), and especially Dr. Brent MacMillan.
For the last 20 years Judy devoted herself to the rescue, care, and protection of countless cats, giving abandoned and vulnerable animals a second chance at a life filled with love. Her unwavering commitment and her compassion for every animal she encountered leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire others.
In keeping with Judy's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Lakeland Funeral Centre on July 10, 2026, between the hours of 10AM-12PM. Service will begin at 12PM. Reception will follow.
