KEMPTON, John Weston
March 31, 1937 – September 29, 2022
We are saddened to announce that John entered into rest peacefully with family by his side on September 29th in his 85th year.
John was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces and the United Nations Peacekeeping forces, having served in Germany and Egypt in the 1950’s. He was born and raised in Milton, Nova Scotia but after his military service he settled in Toronto where he met and married the love of his life. John and Elizabeth were happily married for 62 wonderful years. When John came to Toronto he started work with McGregor Paper which later became Domtar and this started his lifelong career in the paper industry. In 1967 John founded his own company that is still in operation and being run by his children.
John is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth. He is also survived by his four children, Stephen (Joann), Janet (Allan, deceased), Raymond (Sue), and Gordon (Nancy). John is also survived by his five grandchildren, Rebecca, Philip, Brian, Allen and Sydney, and by predeceased grandchild Andrea. John is also survived by his great grandchildren, Braydon, Ryan, Summer, Lily, Landon, Jack and Andrea. Also survived by his sisters Alice (Ramsey) and Eileen (Paul, deceased). Predeceased by his parents Roberta and Thaddeus and three brothers, Harvey, Ralph and Gerald.
John will be greatly missed by the entire family and dear friends in Canada and the United States.
Visitation to take place Saturday, October 8 from 10.00 am until 11.00 am with funeral service to follow at 11.00 am Lakeland Funeral Centre, 19 Moose Rd, Lindsay, Ontario. Following the funeral there will be a luncheon in the Lakeland Reception Centre.
In place of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
