Joan Marlene Butt

Joan Marlene Butt, age 70 passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario after living with cancer for the past two years.  Joan was born on January 21, 1949, in Oshawa, Ontario to Glen and Orma McMaster.  She is survived by her husband Dorian (Pete), son Michael, sister Gail and two granddaughters Chantal and Sienna. Joan was married on July 7, 1972, and lived in Port Perry, Ontario.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trent University in 1988 and her Bachelor of Education Degree from York University in 1990.  Joan retired from a fulfilling teaching career at Cartwright Central Public School in Blackstock in 2001.  After retiring, Joan and Pete moved to Bobcaygeon where she took on many roles organizing events and activities in her community.  Joan also joined the Kawartha Country Cloggers so that she could share her love for dancing with others.  She enjoyed spending her summers at the cottage in Fenelon Falls with family and friends. Joan was known for her sense of humour and special laughter that made everyone laugh with her.  Her joyful spirit will forever dance in the hearts of everyone who loved her.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at 2 pm, at Trinity United Church, 44 William Street, Bobcaygeon Ontario.  Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or SickKids Foundation, as Joan would be pleased that your generosity would help others.
