Armstrong, Janice Helena
January 9, 1957 - October 30, 2013
It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of our daughter, sister, aunt and friend on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in her 57th year. She will be forever remembered for her love of the outdoors, her sense of adventure, her laughter and love of story telling. Pre-deceased by her brother Bob (1999). Janice is survived by her parents Bill and Vera Armstrong - Kingsville, sisters Karen (Don) - Owen Sound and Diane - Toronto, brothers Mike (Christine) - Penetanguishene and Scott (Andrea) - London, nieces and nephews Andrea, Colin, Jill, Nick, Lisa, Becky, Jordan, Aidan, Olivia and Ashton. She will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her dear friend Mary Beth Darlington - St. Catharines), cousins, aunts, uncles and a multitude of friends. Janice accomplished many things in her life. She was an all-around athlete, lifeguard and swimming instructor, climbed the Canadian Rockies, participated in coastal hiking, mountain climbing, caving, ocean sailing and kayaking in Wales, worked as a tree planter greening the oil fields of Fort McMurray, was program coordinator at Kinsmen Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek, Alberta and was a ranch hand in Sunnynook, Alberta. Despite a debilitating car accident, she successfully completed her Bachelor of Physical Education in Outdoor Pursuits at the University of Calgary. Following completion of a Health Care Aide program in 1993, she worked in a nursing home in Owen Sound before moving to Fenelon Falls. Wherever Jan went she brought laughter and cheer. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. MacMillan, the staff of 3 Medical North and Palliative Care at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, CCAC, Community Care in Bobcaygeon, her PSWs especially Catherine and social worker Judy Casteels for their outstanding care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Memories and expressions of sympathy can be shared at a memorial event on Saturday, November 16, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Bobcaygeon and online at www.parkerfuneralhome.ca. A family celebration of Jan's life will be held at a later date. In the meantime please share a story and smile. Should you wish, a donation to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Ontario Humane Society would be appreciated.
