Jack Huntley Minard

Obituary

MINARD, Jack Huntley
January 30, 1931 - January 23, 2023

It is with immense sadness we share the loss of our wonderful father and husband Jack Minard, on Monday January 23, 2023 at Lindsay Ross Memorial Hospital in his 92nd year.

Jack was the dearly beloved husband of Janet (nee Watson). Cherished father to his children Jean (Henry), Richard (Yvonne) and Brian (predeceased); and caring step-dad to Carolyn
(Terry) and Howard.

His love for his grandchildren Jennifer (Chris), Thomas (Samantha), Theresa (Frank), Kate (Anthony), Nathan (Karson) and Ryan was immeasurable. The extra twinkle in his eyes were his treasured eight great-grandchildren.

Jack was born in Lindsay, Ontario but work and family took him as far west as London, Ontario before settling in Oshawa/Whitby and then relocating back to Lindsay several years ago.

Living a full and eventful life, Jack had many stories to share. After completing his apprenticeship with Koehring Waterous Engine Works in Brantford, Ontario, he worked as a draftsman with General Motors and after early retirement from General Motors he ran his own drafting company for many years before finally fully retiring.

Jack was interested in the behind scenes of things and so it was no surprise he became an extra in television shows and movies and happily told stories about all the famous actors he worked with.

He was an antiques enthusiast for many years, attending local auctions and bringing home so many valuables that it led him to a true passion for a military memorabilia collection.

Jack and Janet cherished their days at the Double M Trailer Park in Lindsay since 1988 where friendships and happy memories were made. They were also snowbirds in Florida for 18 years, mostly in the Dunedin area enjoying the sun and developing life long friendships. The travel itch took them to Greece, the Panama Canal, Mexico, a river cruise along the Rhine River in Europe, and other cruises mostly through the Caribbean.

He was a published author of his book “The Story of Ronson Bakker” and recently authored his biography. Other passions were his music, books, movies, auctions, cooking, corny jokes and “Jackisms.”

Although his interests were wide and varied, Jack’s pure joy and pride were his family and friends.
We will miss you always.
