Hugh Dobson

With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Robert Hugh Dobson (Hugh), a loyal and endlessly humorous soul. 

Hugh passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to Fred and Aileen Dobson in Uxbridge, ON. He was predeceased by his sisters, Barb and Mary Jean.

Hugh was a contractor and mechanic, and spent many years working hard on his bulldozers, front end loaders and scrapers (to the delight of many of his grandchildren, he was always willing to show them off).

Hugh was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, cherished by his best friend and wife, Mary Dobson (Burtinsky), his children; Rob (Laurie), Laura (Sarah), Mary’s daughter Michelle (Jim), grandchildren; Melissa, Spencer, Ben, Henry, Rachel (Jeff), Bronwyn (Dan), Nathan (Courtney), Michael, great-grandchildren; Winnie, Teddy and Paddy. He created countless memories with his loved ones, always offering a good one-liner and an unforgettable smile.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his friends, who fondly remember him answering a call with, "What do you need?", "How can I help?" and "I am already on the road."

Whether it was through his work, hobbies, or relationships, he touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, loyalty, friendship and a twinkle in his eye.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Hugh Dobson and share stories of his impact on our lives. There will be a Graveside Service on Tuesday May 7th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lake View Cemetery (1672 Kirkfield Road, Kirkfield Ontario, K0M 2B0). Followed by a Memorial Reception beginning at 12:00 PM at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre (19 Moose Road, Lindsay Ontario, K9V 0A2)
