GERHARD SCHULTE-DERNE, son of Ernst and Herta Schulte-Derne, passed away on July 1, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Gerhard was born September 2, 1939 in Berlin, Germany. He was always proud of the fact that he was a typical Berliner Kind, baptised with water of the river Spree. He was supported by his wife Suella for 66 years. He was equally proud of his children Douglas and
Karen (Brent) and as well by the promise shown by Liam and Reid, the grandchildren.
Gerhard learned and taught in many settings on both sides of the Atlantic, in a number of languages and was praised by many people who were also delighted by his performances of Slavic and German tunes played on the accordion.
He was also a commissioned officer in the Canadian Militia and as such, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Uxbridge, Branch 170.
Gerhard lets Rainer Maria Rilke have the last words: "think of the love and respect and let them remain unchanged for him every day intensely encapsuled in eternity."
SUUM CUIQUE
