Engelina van Noppen

Engelina (Lini) van Noppen from Oakwood, formerly Port Sydney, Torrance and Ajax, Ontario has been called into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ her Saviour on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Lini was born on April 22, 1936 to Nicholas and Hillegonda van den Ham in Bilthoven, Holland. She came to Canada in 1956 and became the dear wife to Ben van Noppen for 63 years. Lini’s patience, gentleness and love was evident as she mothered her five children: Rhoda (deceased) (Paul) Ehrat, Beverly (Paul) Hoddenbagh, Veronica Cawte (deceased), Stanley van Noppen, Benjamin (Debbie) van Noppen. She will be fondly remembered by her 33 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.

Lini dedicated her life to her family. Not only did she care for all the practical needs of a husband and five children as demonstrated by countless hours spent in the kitchen, laundry room, vegetable garden, berry patch etc., she was always available for emotional support, and as a mediator when the kids wanted something but were too afraid to ask Dad! And yes, the occasional spanking when it was warranted!

Lini was passionate. She loved working with her hands and passing her skills onto her daughters and grandchildren. What she was most passionate about was serving her Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. She spent tireless hours serving Him in so many ways.

There will be a private family service on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre. Spring interment at Stevenson Cemetery, Port Sydney, Ontario.
