WARNES, Douglas Arthur William "Mr. Kleen"
June 28, 1929 – August 25, 2016
Passed away at his home in Lindsay with family by his side, after a long and courageous battle. Married 47 years to Diane (predeceased, June 30, 2011), Father to  Richard Warnes, Michelle Guiotto (Peter), Tara Warnes, Karen Bell (Al), Kathleen Walsh (Brian), Terry Warnes,  Donna Martell, Darlene Dimech (predeceased) (Charlie), Douglas Warnes (predeceased). Grandfather to Dennis, Robert, Breanna, Dylan (predeceased), Kayla, Tyson, Kristen, Kelsey, T.J., Tiffany, Nicholas, Andre, Dustin, Felicia.   Great Grandfather to Camryn, Devin, Aiden, Hudson, Olivia, all of whom he loved to watch and grow. Doug is survived by his sister Jean Snyder of Sarnia and his Father in law Michael Proctor (Sonya) of Minden. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. “Mr. Kleen”,  as Doug was known for in the racing community,  will also be missed as one of the racing legends.  His racing career began in 1953 and he retired his racing in 1977.  Doug stayed involved with racing and along with his wife Diane were hired at Sunset Speedway.  Doug was the chief technical steward as this kept him involved with racing.  Eventually he helped his son Richard begin his racing career and then his grandson Robert, thus Warnes Racing became a familiar name. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to his PSWs, Mira, Sharon and Janice, his Nurses from Paramed, especially Jen and Patty, you were truly a blessing to us, Dr. Stuart Bothwell for being such an amazing caring doctor to Dad. In keeping with Dougs wishes, cremation has taken place.  The family will be having a celebration of his life at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre,  19 Moose Road, Lindsay Ontario on Friday September 2, 2016.  Visitation between 11 am – 2 pm and service to begin at 2pm, reception to follow. The family would also request that you wear something purple to honour “Mr. Kleen”. If desired any  donations to Paramed or CCAC would be appreciated.
