Dorothy Gertrude Thompson

Dorothy Thompson passed away at Caressant Care – Mary in Lindsay, Ontario on June 8, 2026.

May she now rest in peace.

 Dorothy was woman whose kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, in a loving and close-knit family. She grew up alongside her sisters, Mary Haydock (the Late Jack) and Patricia Ladouceur (David Colpitts) and throughout her life, family remained at the center of her world. One of her favorite childhood memories was receiving her very first doll at the age of five, a simple but treasured moment that she often remembered with fondness.

Dorothy enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career with Bell Canada, where she spent many years dedicated to her work. She took pride in what she did and built a career that reflected her commitment, intelligence, and strong work ethic.

Above all else, Dorothy was grateful to be reconnected to her daughter, Laura Lee, whom she loved deeply. Family was her greatest treasure, especially spending time with her grandson Brandon and granddaughter Megan (Chance). The bonds she shared with those closest to her were immeasurable.

Dorothy had a love of travel and adventure. She especially cherished her trips to England and Scotland, though England held a particularly special place in her heart. The history, beauty, and charm of the country drew her back time and again, creating memories she carried with her throughout her life.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Dorothy's life was the extraordinary bond she shared with her sisters. The love between Dorothy, Mary, and Pat was evident to anyone who knew them. Dorothy and Pat shared a deeply special connection. Their relationship was built on love, trust, companionship, and unwavering support. That bond was so important to Dorothy that she made the decision to move to Lindsay to be closer to Pat, ensuring they could spend more time together and continue sharing life's everyday moments.

 Dorothy was also a woman of faith. She was a longtime member of St. John's Norway Anglican Church in Toronto and later became a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Lindsay. Her faith provided comfort, strength, and community throughout her life.

At home, Dorothy found great joy in the company of her beloved orange cat, Trudy, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—especially a good romance movie, with Hallmark films being among her favorites.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Dorothy will remember her as a lovely, sweet lady whose gentle nature made a lasting impression. She carried herself with grace and kindness, and she brightened the days of those around her simply by being herself. It has truly been an honor to know Dorothy, to care for her, and to share in her journey. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life filled with love, family, friendship, faith, and cherished memories. May we remember Dorothy's gentle spirit, her devotion to those she loved, and the beautiful bond she shared with her family.  May her memory continue to bring comfort, warmth, and inspiration to all who knew her.
