Passed away peacefully at Victoria Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay after a lengthy illness of Alzheimers. Predeceased by 1 husband James Cartmill, and her twin siblings Pauline and Paul nd Jones. Survived and dearly missed by 2 husband Barry Butler. Mother of Bruce Cartmill (Watson Lake YT) and Tim Cartmill (Oshawa). Grandmother of the late Blake Cartmill. Survived by Grandsons Brett, Paul and C.J. Cartmill. Sister of Harry Paul Jones Jr. (Innisfill). Dolores Louise Jones was born in Scarborough, the eldest living child of Harry Jones Sr. and Rose Olivo. The Depression and War years were challenging times for the Jones family. Dolores along with her brother Harry spent happy years in the loving care of Aunt Ruth Olivo Wallace at times to help her parents get back on their feet again. Dolores attended the Leslie Street School and Roden Commercial School. Her first job at age 13 was working for Eatons Catalogue Department on Saturdays. The challenging economic times the Jones Family faced in their early years were never forgotten by Dolores throughout her lifetime. Dolores appreciated all that she had in life as a result and felt great compassion for those less fortunate than herself, especially children enduring hardship. Dolores supported The Salvation Army faithfully for their good works in alleviating childhood poverty in Canada. Dolores met and married James Cartmill in 1953 and had two sons, Bruce Cartmill and Tim Cartmill. A woman of strong faith, Dolores studied vocal music at the Royal Conservatory and was invited to join the Billy Graham Choir in her youth. She enjoyed an administrative career with McGraw Hill and Gage Publishing and sang in her church choir. The Cartmill family cottaged in Haliburton and Dolores treasured happy memories of family times with her sons in their early years. James and Dolores Cartmill divorced after 27 years of marriage. Dolores met in 1982 her future husband Barry Butler at a dance in Scarborough and they married in 1987 after a long courtship of many dances over the years. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of homemaking, cultivating her garden, was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed crafting and choral singing. In later years Dolores was a volunteer cook for the Canadian Legion Minden Branch, a proud member of the Minden Women's Institute and always looked forward to treasured time spent with her 4 grandsons. Together with her husband Barry she travelled the world, swam with dolphins, hiked through jungles, cruised the seas, climbed a mountain, sailed the Great Lakes, loved to dance and sing and had boundless energy to walk miles each day despite her lengthy illness. Dolores is now resting with the Lord. Sincere gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Victoria Manor in Lindsay for their specialized superior care of Dolores and all residents touched by Alzheimers. Heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Doug & Kim Ross for their extraordinary pastoral care. A private cremation has taken place. Internment at St. Johns Norway Cemetery, Toronto alongside her parents and infant siblings. Sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Johns Norway Cemetery for their compassionate service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully appreciated sent to the Alzheimers Society in Lindsay for their promotion of education in Alzheimers awareness and providing support to the community.
