David Rodgers Obituary

In Loving Memory of David Wyndham Rodgers

David (Dave) Wyndham Rodgers was born on February 19, 1935, in Toronto, Ontario, to Anabelle and Wyndham Rodgers. From the very beginning, he carried a quiet strength and determination that would shape the course of his life.

On February 12, 1955, he married his roller-skating sweetheart, Maxine—a love story full of joy, partnership, and enduring devotion. Together, they built a life centered on family, raising their two children, Carolyn and David, and later delighting in their five grandchildren: Mitchell, Colin, Brooke, Meghan, and Wynne.

Dave began working straight out of school, pursuing a career that reflected both his skill and passion. As a Class A Automotive Mechanic, he quickly distinguished himself, becoming a Mechanic Instructor at the Provincial Institute of Trades in 1959. His career spanned decades and industries, including helping establish dealerships across Canada with Volvo when it first came to the country in 1968. He also worked with GMC, American Motors, and Peugeot, bringing his expertise and dedication wherever he went.

Later in life, he explored new paths, working in residential security with Intercon Securities and helping set up operations for SSI2000 Securities in Vancouver, British Columbia. He eventually returned to his automotive roots, working with an automotive hoist company before retiring in 2000 after an impressive 47-year career.

Beyond his work, Dave had a deep love for the things that brought him peace and joy. He treasured his 1953 Mercury—the first car he purchased with Maxine—a symbol of their early years together. He loved boats and the water, building model ships with care and pride, and even owning a boat during their time living in Vancouver in the early 1980s.

Family was always at the center of his life. Dave was predeceased by his older sister Donna. He is survived by his wife Maxine, daughter Carolyn, grandkids Mitchell, Colin (Mandy), and Brooke, son Dave (Sue) grandchildren Meghan (JP), Wynne and siblings Dolly and Bill, who continue to carry forward the family’s spirit.

Dave will be remembered as a steady presence—hardworking, devoted, and deeply loving. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the lives he touched, and the memories that will forever bring comfort and pride.

Rest peacefully, Dad. Your love and your story will always guide us.
