Peacefully at Ed's House, Cobourg, Ontario on Saturday May 22, 2021, in his 100th year. Beloved husband of the late Winnifred Daisy Thornton (nee Rowe).
Ray was a resident of Lindsay; formerly Rice Lake (Bewdley) and Oshawa and Scarborough.
Predeceased by his son Lance Thornton, daughter Wendy Payne, son-in-law Tony Payne, daughter-in-law Diane Thornton, granddaughter Rachel Harrison; - also predeceased by his siblings Victor, Gloria, Larry, Muriel, and Eleanor. Survived by his sisters Lucienna and Lorraine.
Loving father of Carol McGrath (Jim), Bud Thornton (Liz), Faye Harrison (Ralph), Raymond Thornton (Jean), Lu Sass (Fred), Mike Thornton (Joanna), Penny Harnum (Clay), Robin Thornton, Mark Thornton (Heather), Fern Dunn (Terry); and dear father-in-law to Linda Thornton.
Cherished by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic there will be no visitation; a private service will take place at Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre, 19 Moore Road, Lindsay, ON on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
A private Interment will be planned for a later date at Bowmanville Cemetery, Bowmanville, ON.
