Charles Kazimeras Olito
Charles Olito was born in Wishaw Scotland to Wincentas Olito and Ona Olito. He was the seventh of eight children, Bill, Peter, Frank, Adele, Tony, Mare, and Ona, who all predeceased him. Charles was called to National Service after WW2. He continued in the RAF for 9 years with the majority of his time spent in West Germany in covert listening posts. He was a wireless and ground radar specialist. Upon leaving the RAF Charles came to Canada and spent the next years in Winnipeg, Manitoba working in electronics. He enjoyed weekends at his brother Bill’s farm near MacGregor where he developed a love for animals and farm life. In 1961 he married Terry Giza, and they moved to Toronto where his sisters and cousins lived. In Toronto he taught electronics and continued his avid interest in soccer by coaching and refereeing. He retired to his farm in Lindsay where he remained after his wife passed. Charles spent years working with Kawartha Legion. He also liked to travel and went to Germany, Cuba, Mexico and made annual visits to Manitoba to visit family. Charles is survived by many nieces and nephews around the globe. A graveside service will be held in Manitoba at a later date.
