Stevens, Benjamin Francis (Ben)

Passed peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital on Friday February 4th 2022, in his 92nd year. Ben was the beloved husband of Rhona Bryant, and the late Velma Chambers (2001) and the late Margaret Lidkie (2007). Ben was the son of the late Edward and Myra Stevens. Dear father of Doug (Sue) Stevens of Cobourg, Deb (Brian) Garber of Texas and Donna Cabell of Lindsay. Cherished Papa of Kara (Garretson) McKinney, Terrin (Reagan) Garber, Jarret (Dakota) Garber, Billy (Vasanta) Cabell, and Jeffrey (Jenna) Cabell. Great Papa of Hayden, Dustin, and Devin Cabell, and Parker Garber. Brother of James (the late Beverley), Margaret (late John) Locke, Charlie and Evey Stevens, and the late Jane (Mike) Barrabulea, Evelyn (Alwyn) English. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ben grew up on a farm just east of Lindsay and later built his family home on a corner lot of the farm where he lived and raised his family with his wife Velma. Ben worked for Silverwoods Dairy in Lindsay, where he drove a Milk Tanker and later with Kawartha Dairy in Bobcaygeon. He was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge. Ben was a cancer survivor for over 50 years and volunteered and assisted with the Cancer Society. He was a mentor for many cancer victims. Ben was an active member of the Cambridge Street Baptist Church, and a Trustee on the Ops Twp. School Board. Ben's family will celebrate his life with a Memorial Service at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre, followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery.
