Barb Johnston Obituary

It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family of Barb Johnston (nee Plumridge) announces her passing on Monday, January 16, 2023 after a brief illness at the age of 86.

Barb is now reunited with the love of her life, Ken (predeceased 2021) whom she missed tremendously these past two years. Our family finds some level of comfort knowing they are now together again.

Barb was born December 5, 1936 to Harry and Winnifred Plumridge. She was the youngest of four girls. Barb had the most beautiful relationship with her sisters Muriel, Thelma and Joan. They all loved one another dearly and had an incredible sisterly bond that was admired by many.

Shortly after being married, Kirk (predeceased) was born and two years later their daughter Deb (John) came along.

Barb loved her children unconditionally. They were her life, and she was always there for them; putting their needs before her own. She was an incredible mom and best friend and was extremely close to her kids. If lucky enough to visit, which was often, her hugs were always so warm and comforting. Every single phone call or visit always ended with “I love you”. There was never a time when those words were not exchanged.

One of Barb’s biggest joys, and the other love of her life, was her grandson Brock (Courtney). She had so much love in her heart for you in every way possible. She simply adored you, was proud of you, and loved being your nana.

Barb loved to watch hockey and baseball. She loved to cheer her family on. This brought her much joy, as we are a big sports family. Another enjoyment for Barb was gathering with best friends and family for a little bit of happy hour. Good friends, good food and good wine gave her great joy and such pleasure. She treasured these times, but treasured all those friendships the most.

Barb had many nieces and nephews whom she adored, and always loved seeing them. They will miss her dearly.

Barb always put her family first and wanted the very best for them. She wanted nothing more than for them to be happy and healthy. She gave selflessly her entire life. There is no love like a mother’s love.

She was so loving, caring, thoughtful, sweet, she had a fabulous sense of humor, loved a good joke and was one hell of a classy lady.

This loss is devastating to our family, but we know we will see you again mom, you were my first love and my best friend. We miss you already.

Until then, mom/nana “I love you” x2 xoxo

There is no service at this time, but a celebration will be held late spring or early summer.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
