Alfred Albert (Al) Wignall

After a courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (C.O.P.D) and lung cancer, our beloved Al passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. Al is predeceased by his parents Isa (1983) and Harry Sr. (1986); his brother Harry (2009); and his first wife Ruth Levick (1998) of fifty years. He leaves behind his beloved wife Isabel with whom he shared twenty-three years of marriage; his daughters Gaye and Kathleen of Toronto, Ontario; his stepdaughters Valerie Torney (Al) of Melbourne, Australia and Sheri Scott (Brent) of London, Ontario; step grandchildren Emily and Jessica Torney of Melbourne, Australia and Xavier Anderson of London, Ontario. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was a special friend to Mark and Cathy Patterson of Omemee, Ontario and Michael Scott of Milford, Ontario. Al was a proud member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 353 of Toronto for over seventy-five years. After working years at the electrical trade, he shifted gears and opened his own transmission business in Toronto, Ontario. He successfully operated Reliance Transmission until he retired. Al was always a busy man with many talents and hobbies – model ship, train and plane building. He loved curling, golfing, boating and fishing on Lake Ontario and the lakes around Haliburton, Ontario.

It was Al’s wish to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
