Jean Anderson Spearing ~ October 1931 to march 2010. In her 79th year, Jean Spearing, a long-time resident of Bethany, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, March 8. Jean was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, immigrating to Canada in 1952. Jean was one of two children born to the late David and Molly Sampson and is survived by her brother David (and his wife Francis) of Belfast. She was the beloved wife of the late James Ernest Spearing. Jean's memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her children Edward (Ted) (and his wife Sandra), Terrance (Terry) (and his wife Karen), Thomas (and his wife Sherri), Timothy (and his wife Karen) and Tracy (and her husband John Stewart). She held a special place in the hearts of her husband's surviving family, including her sister-in-law Doris Nicholls and brother-in-law Bob West, and predeceased by Iris and Doug McIntyre, Joyce West, Ken and Mary Spearing and Bob Nicholls. She leaved behind her continuing legacy, her treasured grandchildren Katelyn, Conor, Kyle, Christa, Katie Lynn, Melissa, Brandon and Rachel, as well as her great grandson Lucas. Jean was also special mother in spirit to Ronald Awde and Robert Ertel. She will be greeted at heaven's gates by her dear friend Marie Kerr who passed so very recently and has been awaiting their reunion. She leaves behind a wealth of precious memories for those countless other friends and family whom were blessed to have known her. On Saturday, March 13th, friends and family are invited to attend a short visitation commencing at 12:30 pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm at Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Road, Lindsay, Ontario. The family requests that donations be made in Jeannie's honour to the Canadian Cancer Society or the palliative care unit at Peterborough Regional Health Centre which can be arranged by Parker Funeral Home, 705-324-1988.
