Miller, James (Jim)
It is with great sadness that we announce Jim’s passing at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, November 20, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer, at the age of 70.  Jim was the devoted partner of Debbie Young.  Loving father of Doug (Tracy) of North Bay and Cathy (Guy) of Lindsay.  Very proud Poppa of Jamie, Emily and Kailey.  He will also be deeply missed by Debbie’s children Travis (Victoria), Jamie (Tammy) and Ryan (Nicole) and grandchildren.  He will also be remembered by his brother Pat (Lorraine) and his nephews Jason, Chris and Greg.  Predeceased by his father James Miller and mother Ethel Rich (Croteau). It was Jim’s wishes for cremation and a private family gathering to be held at a later date.  Jim was an avid sports enthusiast and was a very loyal fan of the Montreal Canadiens.  Those that knew him were never surprised to find him sitting in his favourite chair watching whatever sport may be on at the time.  He spent many years devoted to coaching minor hockey in Powassan and was especially proud of his success with the Gateway City Ponies.  Jim was a very active participant in the community serving as a councillor and being part of the Lions Club.  His amazing sense of humour and quick wit made him popular amongst many.  In recent years Jim and Debbie devoted their time as foster parents to two autistic boys.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fulfilling his life long dream of owning a motor home and travelling.  He especially liked spending part of his winters in Myrtle Beach and more recently Florida.  He will be fondly remembered and missed by many.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peterborough Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Ward or Sick Kids Hospital.  Online condolences may be made at www.lakelandfuneralcentre.com.
