Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ontario on Friday, September 13, 2019. Harold was born on July 25, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario. He was the eldest son of Annie and Bill MacKay, deceased. Brother of Tom MacKay of Lindsay, Ontario and the late David MacKay (Dale surviving) of Brechin, Ontario. Loving father of Caroline Straub (Chris) and Ken MacKay (Nancy). Cherished grandfather to Kaitlyn, Deanna and Kevin. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Siglinde Van der Grinten. Harold was a loyal and beloved friend to Joan Windrem and her children Sam, Gale, David, Nancy and Brad. Lovingly remembered by Joan’s Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Loving uncle to Tom’s children Lynne and John. Fondly remembered by his Great-Nieces and Nephews. Harold will be missed by his sister-in-law Donna Thompson and nephew Chris and niece Carey of Barrie. Harold was a true gentleman and friend who was respected by everyone who knew him. He will live in our hearts forever. A beautiful soul was finally released to everlasting peace. Family, relatives and friends are invited to visit Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Road, Lindsay on Wednesday, September 18 from 6:00 P.M. - 8 :00 P.M. and on Thursday, September 19 from 11:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Service in the chapel at 12:00 P.M. Reception to follow the service at the funeral home. Harold’s wishes were to be buried in the family plot with his parents and brother in Toronto, Ontario.
