Helen Collett, born February 13th, 1929 in London Ontario, died on November 1st, 2008 after an intense but thankfully short illness. Helen was predeceased by her partner of 55 years, Derek Collett, with whom she had an adventurous life, living and traveling across Canada and Europe. Helen will be mourned by her children Jeff and Sheila, their partners Pam and Ben, and her grandchildren Kristina, Heather, Leanne and Wesley. Also by brother-in-law Peter, his wife Margaret, and nephew Michael Collett of Victoria B.C. and by sister-in-law Sara Lankester and her husband George in England. Helen was an avid reader, and a lover of music, dance and the arts. She greatly enjoyed her book club, Tai Chi, and her many friends. The family is profoundly appreciative of the compassionate care given to Helen at Ross Memorial Hospital by her doctors and by the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit. Friends who would like to remember Helen are invited to join her family at 4 Heritage Way in Lindsay on November 16th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to Kawartha Conservation (Ken Reid Conservation Area) or to the Lindsay Public Library and can be arranged by Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Road, PO Box 236, Lindsay, K9V 4S1. 705-324-1988.
